On June 19, Colombians elected Gustavo Petro, a former guerrilla and former mayor of Bogotá, as the country’s first leftist president in modern history. As Petro prepares to take office, Benjamin Gedan, acting director of the Wilson Center’s Latin American Program, joins Wilson Center distinguished fellow Cynthia Arnson for a Twitter Spaces conversation on the outlook for U.S.-Colombia relations.
